LEAN

When your faith is empty and you say, “I got no more gas left in the tank. I can’t go on. I don’t know how.”

Or when doubt has cut the phone lines to Heaven and says, “What’s the point of calling? No one will come.”

A friend comes along. A brother comes along.

They say, “I know you ain’t got nothing left. It’s okay. I got you. I got this."

They say, ”If you ain’t got the faith, if you ain’t got the courage, lean on my faith, lean into my courage. I will help you carry the weight.”

A messenger comes along and gives you a Word.

They say “Oh brother, you ain’t the first one to go through this. You ain’t the last one. You’ll make it. Listen to your father’s instruction. Don’t forget your mother’s teaching. God has given us His book of wisdom. Let’s use it. Now come over here and lean on my faith.”

That’s what an embrace is. That’s what a hug is. Sometimes you lean on somebody’s comfort. Sometimes you lean into someone’s love. But sometimes you just gotta lean on someone else’s faith.

See, when you don’t have the strength to carry yourself to the finish line and you don’t have the will to complete the task that you’ve been given, Grief comes like a wave to knock you down and take you out.

At that moment, that precise moment, you just gotta reach out your hand and lean. Let someone else carry you.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” - Jesus
