Continually Feels Impossible

King David wrote "I will praise the Lord at all times. His praise will continually be in my mouth..." (Psalm 34) That word "continually" feels impossible sometimes.

Because in private conversations some people ask you, "Why should I praise God if I just received the worst news of my life..." or "How can I praise God if I'm suffering?"

People know when you're in a tough situation, they know when you are in overwhelming amounts of stress, but YOU have to KNOW God will walk you through all of that.

When things go right, when things go wrong...

Praise him.

Praise is not based on our circumstances. It is based on His goodness and He is always good.

Yes, we praise Him for what He says.

Yes, we praise Him for what He does.

But what if we don't like what He says or what He does?

We still should praise Him for who He is.

It is often in moments when we feel the most alone that God is the closest to us. So praise Him.

King David nearing the end of his Psalm 34 writes this insightful encouragement, "The righteous person may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from the all." (v. 19)

Because He delivers us from ALL of those troubles, we have reason to continually praise Him.
