Celebrating Sandra


Sandra Edilia Ochoa, 50 years old, of Mission, Tx, passed away on the 10th of May 2017 at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen, Tx.

The “Celebration of Life” ceremony will be held at 12 pm – 2 pm at Luz Para Las Naciones Auditorium located at 915 W Expressway 83, Mission, TX 78572 on Saturday, May 13.

Pastor Jose G. Reyes will be officiating. Family visitation time will be held from 9 am – 12 pm at Luz Para Las Naciones Auditorium.

Sandra was born in Chihuahua, Chihuahua, Mexico on March 21, 1967. She graduated from Mission High School in 1986 and continued her education to receive a Bachelor’s Degree in English and Minor in Spanish from the University of Texas – Pan American in 2014.

Sandra was married to Roberto Ariel Ochoa on August 8, 1992; they were married 24 years.

Sandra was an educator. She worked for 25 years as a teacher aide in Mission C.I.S.D. She went on to achieve her dream of becoming a teacher. In 2014, she became a kindergarten teacher for Escobar Rios Elementary and taught for 3 years.

She enjoyed family get togethers, going to church, teaching children and family vacations. She was actively involved in children’s ministry as a Sunday school teacher throughout her life. She instilled Biblical principles in the lives of her brothers and sisters as well as her children. She was a woman known for her prayers and faith.

Sandra is survived by her husband Roberto Ariel Ochoa, her mother Hortencia "Mema" Valenzuela, her children Janette A. Lopez, Roberto A. Ochoa Jr., Kassandra D. Ochoa, her son in law Fabian Lopez and her brothers and sisters Mara Limones, Hortencia “Tencha” Berzenski, Isabel Sanchez, Irma Gonzalez, Pedro A. Limones and Jorge Limones.

Sandra is preceded in death by her father Pedro Limones and her brother Jose Antonio Limones.

The family of Sandra Edilia Ochoa wishes to thank Rivera Funeral Home for their services and Luz Para Las Naciones church for opening their doors.

In lieu of traditional black formal attire, the family is asking for those willing to participate to wear white in this celebration of Sandra’s life.
