PEACE THAT GUARDS

“…in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6,7

When we have the truth, we have accurate knowledge. This provides avenues towards freedom. We become free from ignorance because we now have a clearer picture of reality. We no longer are paralyzed by indecision. When we become free of indecision, we can make decisions with confidence and certainty. It is this power to decide that is our freedom.

The Bible says “in every situation, with thanksgiving, we are to make our petition known to God…”

Two beautiful messages of truth emerge from this verse in Philippians.

The first truth is God is accessible. God has allowed us to meet with Him.

The second truth is that we can be confident that God will respond to us.

The end of the verse goes on to say

“And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:7

God will give us a peace that will guard our mind.

When we place our petition in His hands. He will respond to us by giving us a peace in our mind. Why does this work? We know that God will respond.

The truth prevents our imagination from going astray. This gives us freedom from fear. Having freedom from ignorance and fear allows a place in our minds for peace.

Truth brings Freedom. Freedom brings Peace. But what does Peace bring? Peace brings Rest.

In any situation, your heart will be able to rest because it is well guarded by the peace of God.

Know the truth of His Word. Walk in the Light of freedom. Know Jesus the Prince of Peace so that may you find rest for your soul.
