A Lesson From: A Siberian Squirrel

Some time ago, National Geographic posted an article about a real life Ice Age squirrel in Siberia who had hidden a collection of seeds. The seeds were encased in ice for thousands of years near the Kolyma River. One of the coldest places in the world. They were found 120 feet below frozen soil surrounded by mammoth and rhinoceros bones. Workers were able to extract some organic material from the seeds and tried to plant them.

Another discovery came about in Egypt.

Found near the desert by the Nile River several corn and wheat seeds. The seeds were even put on display at museum with a written inscription saying the seeds were over 6,000 years old. Some seeds were petrified because of the heat. The Egyptian government used some of the seeds and tried to plant them.

In both cases, whether it was extreme cold or heat. The seeds grew. The flowers blossomed in Siberia and the crops grew in Egypt.

What’s the lesson here?

It doesn’t matter how long it has taken. It doesn’t matter how long things have been delayed. There is life in you. You are not dead inside. God has given you the capacity and the responsibility to offer the gift that you have that the world needs. The world needs what is inside of you. At no point in your life did you ever lose it. It is your destiny to do all that God has called you to do. God wouldn’t have given you such a great desire if He never intended on giving you the power to fulfill your calling. Today, God is reminding you that you have that power. You will achieve the purpose and plans that HE has for your life. Why? It is written…

“Those who sow with tears will reap with songs of joy. Those who go out weeping, carrying seed to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with them. ” (Psalms 126:5-6)
