“…fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:2
I’ve come to realization that I’d rather lose my life then lose my faith.
This whole horrible ordeal my family has gone through has caused me to view life, death, God, faith, medicine and health in a new perspective. Pain has shaken the foundations of our house but our house has weathered the storm.
I can get a new lung and I can get a new heart but not a new soul.
The pain and suffering that people walk through causes a variety of reactions and responses to it.
Some curse God and wish to die.
Some praise God and wish to die.
Some decide not to speak to God.
Others recite poetic reflections that are popular in history.
I believe most pray for a miracle.
The process of pain is life transforming. It may be a good result or a terrible result but be sure of this it will cause change.
Humans are resilient if they choose to be. The body may begin to shut down and fail but the spirit can still soar. During pain, there is also a decision. During suffering, there is still a choice.
What good is it to receive a new kidney but lose your soul and the fabric of who are you in the process?
Whether it is this life or the next one, joy will come again. The pain is temporary. Like our Savior, we must realize that on the other side of all of this still joy remains. There is a joy that is so valuable, so important, so precious that we soon realize outlasting the pain is worth it.
The road to joy is paved with endurance. You’ll get there one day. Just keep moving forward. Keep moving forward.
